In today’s news…

My laptop broke. Many hardware components are non-responsive and Windows doesn’t load up. I’ve had it fixed 2 years ago, but it’s a cheap thing, so I don’t think it’s worth fixing it again… Though I mourn for all my lost files – photos, pictures, movies, TV series, manga archive, anime… ;( Let’s not forget my links, all gone. Sigh… And my files of course, all those Word files. When I have a chance to fix it for cheap, I might go for it to save whatever’s on the harddisk, before I permanently put the laptop away in some corner.

For now, I’ve bought a new laptop, and Windows 10 is driving me crazy with it’s eclectic variety of additions and distracting disorder. Oh well. I’m a bit depressed. I hate new stuff. I’m the type of person who settles into habits, so that really bothers me -_-. Okay, I’m done whining. (Gosh, my manga archive, my fat yaoi folder! QQ)

  1. ;A;
I hate when that happens. I’m so sorry for your loss – hopefully you’ll be able to retrieve all the data in the computer!
Oh, and happy holidays to you xD though a bit of bad timing since this became a little depressing due to technology failure πŸ˜‰

  2. I’m sorry to hear that. About new computer.. You can try Linux mint, it’s a free OS, very easy to operate, has rather less virus threat, you can decide your self what Apps/software you want to use and where you want to put your files into. Not like Windows where you can never really be sure which apps installed where etc…

    1. I’m too used to Windows… I’ve been battling with it for the past 4 hours though, disabling fancy options, fixing the font, antivirus, dealing with cortana… it’s endless. I’ll look up your suggestion and keep it in mind as an option.

  3. I remembered that my cousin had a sort of problem like that -but only his was hacked. XD
Someone hacked his laptop and told him that he’ll only remove the “bug” if he pays up, he can open the laptop but some of his files like anime, games, movies etc. were lock up.
In the end, when his expert friend tried to help him, he said he can do two things -to pay that huge amount of money or to reboot. He pick the latter and boi is he crying XD

    1. Whoa, sounds awful. I’m scared of such hacks.
My problem was simply worn out components. The laptop was on the cheap side, so the materials were easy to deteriorate after a few years of use. It most likely needs a new fan, and who knows what else has fried inside due to the overheating.

      1. Indeed, buying cheap things are hard as it wouldn’t last forever -or rather long XD
But I do hope you’ll get to manage your situation and adapt at windows 10, so yeah -Welcome to Windows 10! XD

  4. Aww that sucks~ 😦 this happened to me once… If you don’t want to save the laptop but want to save the old files you can just take out the internal harddrive and bought an internal harddrive case…. Bam, your old data was saved and you got new external harddrive~haha

i took out the internal harddrive myself and bought the internal hardrive case for cheap here in my country… Not sure if it is available in yours though…

    1. Wow, I did that with my first laptop. Sadly, it just didn’t work (it wasn’t recognized or something, can’t remember what the problem was), and I already gave that case to someone else. Not sure if I want to try it out again.

    1. If I do, it’ll be more than half a year later. As long as it wasn’t damaged, I could find someone to just save the harddrive and transfer my files to the new laptop. We’ll see.

  5. awww, that sucks. Sorry about that. I totally understand you what you mean about changes. It’s annoying to have to adjust, especially when your just used to how it was before. It’s a drag…. I’ve only changed to windows 10 4 mos ago, and I still can’t same I’m fully comfortable with it. Trudge, on home, trudge on!

  6. Linux mint has a rather similar layout and function with Windows but doesn’t have the same problem that Windows has.
So it’s actually user friendly for Linux beginners (compared to other Linux version like Ubuntu for example 😊) .
My sceptical papa (75 yo) had also finally like it after he tried. Moreover, if you have big enough Harddisk, you need not to delete/deinstall windows to use Linux mint anyway. Just make a new partition for your 2nd OS, so principally you have then a dual boot system. So every time you turn on your laptop, you can choose whether starting Linux or Windows depends on your necessity (I do the same thing because I need CATIA & AutoCAD for my occupation, so I still need windows too). But later if you think you can live with Linux only… Then you can completely throw your windows away if you like πŸ˜„πŸ˜Š.
    However it’s just an idea…
I’m looking forward to reading your next update πŸ˜Šβ˜ΊπŸ™πŸ‘.
I hope you overcome your problem soon

  7. I get what you mean my laptop broke last year and I replaced it with a new one and it was Windows 10 also and my computer sucks so bad I wasted a lot of money on it hopefully the new computer works out and you can sync your files from your Google account if you had them synced and saved that’s how I did it.

    Good luck to you! ❀❀❀❀
